Let’s make Quest Sport, a lightweight stroller made of aircraft-quality aluminum. Let’s make it strong, so it can support up to 55 lbs… and keep the stroller under 13 lbs. Let’s find the best ripstop material to make the canopy and seat, and then let’s hire top-notch designers and engineers to create fancy and modern designs for the canopy and seat. That sounds good, but it is not enough. Let’s make the seat able to recline in four positions, and add a storage basket under the seat.
It sounds like a great conversation with Maclaren designers, but can these features be accepted by’management’? Let’s talk about the conversation between the Maclaren designers and their manager ….. “Hey boss! What do you think?” The manager says, “This is a great start, but it’s not enough… why not throw in a raincover at no extra cost to give our customers a lifetime warranty – that’s all, we’ve got ourselves an winner!”
Okay, I admit it. I made up the entire scenario. The entire “designer conversation” was my creation. But, what I didn’t create is the final result. Maclaren did the design of Maclaren Quest Sport’s features, qualities, and capabilities. I didn’t create them. Let’s take an in-depth look at this stroller.
